Panel: Palin abused power in trooper case
Friday night burial, so spread the word...
Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin abused her power as Alaska's governor and violated state ethics law by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired from the state police, a state investigator's report concluded Friday.
"Gov. Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda," the report states.
Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan's refusal to fire State Trooper Mike Wooten from the state police force was "likely a contributing factor" to Monegan's July dismissal, but Palin had the authority as governor to fire him, the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower states.
However, it states that her efforts to get Wooten fired broke a state ethics law that bars public officials from pursuing personal interest through official action.

I would also like to note the 11 Republicans and only 4 Democrats who conluded these findings.
No chance for partisanship in the findings... so I don't want to hear it Rush Limpy.. suck on that drive by fatty.
Conservatives are dropping support for Mccain faster than than Rush Limbaugh can chug down Oxycoton.
ha ha....wonder how you have a link from CNN!!! good for you.. keep leaning so left so that at some time we can be like Congo, right?
It is no surprise that Palin violated ethics. The entire Republican party has adapted the presumpion that they can get away with anything they want simply because they have the evangelicals behind them...it only goes to show you how insidious the hypocrisy runs, and how deep its toxicity. It's time for honest CHANGE.
M....I am glad that you have this post. It appears that Senator McCain's selection was flawed first of all by his failure to vet her properly and her "Abuse Of Power" pronouncement. These are strong issues against Senator McCain along with the economy and his votes with George Bush that will cost him the election.
You are laughable. Sarah was found guilty of only not stopping her husband from talking. If you are married, how many times have you shut up your husband when he was defending a threat against a woman or child.

This should be the final nail in the coffin for McCain's campaign. It has been wrought with controvery and problems and I think this will help to completely sway the Independents Obama's way. If it doesn't what will it take?
Palin being corrupt on a small scale in Alaska, that is Alaska's problem. They elected her. But Palin in Washington D. C. would be my problem. Wheeling and dealing, lying and stealing on a large scale cannot be tolerated. Do we really need another one of those in Washington right now?
How much power do YOU want?-points-
First dumbass Anonymous - I am proud to lean left, thanks, but if you'd like to offer a secondary link, feel free.
Second dumbass Anonymous - I am laughable because I am pointing out this woman's shady behavior? Ok, continue to bury your head in the sand and let the right rape you with stupidity. I find it laughable that you can't see the bigger picture.
Toodles.
As if it matters... here's a link to the Associated Press version of the story. Is the AP also left leaning or are they anti-American commies too?

Lynn, your comment would actually make some sense if it hadn't already been widely reported that Todd Palin sits in on the governor's meetings and is copied on government business emails. Gee, my husband doesn't get that involved in my job. And if he did, it would be my responsibility to stop it. That obviously didn't happen here.
It is obvious just how flawed McSame's judgement is. Now we have the proof of how a bitch Bulldog wearing lipstick can sink can sink an already losing campaign.
No McSame, No Palin, NO WAY!!!!
Oct. 7, 2008 | “My government is my worst enemy. I’m going to fight them with any means at hand.”
This was former revolutionary terrorist Bill Ayers back in his old Weather Underground days, right? Imagine what Sarah Palin is going to do with this incendiary quote as she tears into Barack Obama this week.
Only one problem. The quote is from Joe Vogler, the raging anti-American who founded the Alaska Independence Party. Inconveniently for Palin, that’s the very same secessionist party that her husband, Todd, belonged to for seven years and that she sent a shout-out to as Alaska governor earlier this year. (“Keep up the good work,” Palin told AIP members. “And God bless you.”)
Enjoy this story?
Thanks for your support.
AIP chairwoman Lynette Clark told me recently that Sarah Palin is her kind of gal. “She’s Alaskan to the bone … she sounds just like Joe Vogler.”
So who are these America-haters that the Palins are pallin’ around with?
Before his strange murder in 1993, party founder Vogler preached armed insurrection against the United States of America. Vogler, who always carried a Magnum with him, was fond of saying, “When the [federal] bureaucrats come after me, I suggest they wear red coats. They make better targets. In the federal government are the biggest liars in the United States, and I hate them with a passion. They think they own [Alaska]. There comes a time when people will choose to die with honor rather than live with dishonor. That time may be coming here. Our goal is ultimate independence by peaceful means under a minimal government fully responsive to the people. I hope we don’t have to take human life, but if they go on tramping on our property rights, look out, we’re ready to die.”
This quote is from “Coming Into the Country,” by John McPhee, who traipsed around Alaska’s remote gold mining country with Vogler for his 1991 book. The violent-tempered secessionist vowed to McPhee that if any federal official tried to stop him from polluting Alaska’s rivers with his earth-moving equipment, he would “run over him with a Cat and turn mosquitoes loose on him while he dies.”
Vogler wasn’t just a blowhard either. He put his secessionist ideas into action, working to build AIP membership to 20,000 — an impressive figure by Alaska standards — and to elect party member Walter Hickel as governor in 1990.
Vogler’s greatest moment of glory was to be his 1993 appearance before the United Nations to denounce United States “tyranny” before the entire world and to demand Alaska’s freedom. The Alaska secessionist had persuaded the government of Iran to sponsor his anti-American harangue.
That’s right … Iran. The Islamic dictatorship. The taker of American hostages. The rogue nation that McCain and Palin have excoriated Obama for suggesting we diplomatically engage. That Iran.
AIP leaders allege that Vogler, who was murdered that year by a fellow secessionist, was taken out by powerful forces in the U.S. before he could reach his U.N. platform. “The United States government would have been deeply embarrassed,” by Vogler’s U.N. speech, darkly suggests Clark. “And we can’t have that, can we?”
The Republican ticket is working hard this week to make Barack Obama’s tenuous connection to graying, ’60s revolutionary Bill Ayers a major campaign issue. But the Palins’ connection to anti-American extremism is much more central to their political biographies.
Imagine the uproar if Michelle Obama was revealed to have joined a black nationalist party whose founder preached armed secession from the United States and who enlisted the government of Iran in his cause? The Obama campaign would probably not have survived such an explosive revelation. Particularly if Barack Obama himself was videotaped giving the anti-American secessionists his wholehearted support just months ago.
Where’s the outrage, Sarah Palin has been asking this week, in her attacks on Obama’s fuzzy ties to Ayers? The question is more appropriate when applied to her own disturbing associations.
I think as many of us as possible should comment here...

Her husband is actually a person who hates the government. He and friends were trying to leave it. I think that fact should made apparent whenever Palin talks about Ayers.
What's funny is that the few people I know who actually live in Alaska don't care about any of this. They get their oil profit windfall checks each year and the rest of the state could slide into the Arctic as far as they're concerned.
I think Trig, in all of his retarded infancy could run that state.
What is more amazing about Sarah Palin, is after the report comes out and says she broke state ethics laws, she comes out and says the report exhonorates her! She lies about facts that are facts that everyone knows. I guess in her world if she says up is down then up is down regardless of the fact that you have to look down to see it. This report wasn't something reporters had to dig through to find like the bridge to nowhere that she supported til it was dead. This "exhonoration" she simply lied about even though it was plain for all to see she wasn't exhonorated.
lol what happened with this case??? what about the dumbasses that bought into it???? WE WILL NEVER KNOW BECAUSE THIS THREAD IS CENSORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY CENSORSHIP!!!!!
