John Edwards has admitted having an affair. At least he didn't try and lie his way out of it or minimize it, AND this wasn't new news to his wife.

He did lie - he lied about it for a long time, and ran for president while he was lying.
This whole thing really saddens me because I was a big Edwards fan. He was my #2 choice after Kucinich. I thought that, if not president, he could be a great Attorney General or something.
Now it turns out he is a philanderer and a liar. I am so disappointed.
At least it's not adolescent congressional pages or random men in airport bathrooms.
It was pathetic watching the Nightline interview last week. He came totally clean and they kept trying to hype it up. I love the mock concern for how his family is going to heal as they continue beating this dead horse.
It's not that he cheated or lied about it. Who really cares.
What is totally f'd up is that he ran, knowing full well this could and probably would be exposed, and that, if he was the candidate, he could have flushed millions of people's hard work and hopes to change the country down the toilet in losing his own chance.
That was very much NOT cool.
