I've already gotten a spiffy drawing from my little girl, and I've just learned that Mother's Day is 100 years old.

I think the explanation is a fairly simple one of the resolution simply not being worded clearly enough.
Had the Democrats more specifically stated that the resolution was to honor only white, Christian, heterosexual, married mothers who had abandoned all forms of birth control and a life outside the home then I'm SURE the Republicans would have gladly signed on to it.
It's the minor little things like language that cause so much gridlock in DC, you see.

It was a lovely day and I've already started reading the book you gave me, the Audacity of Hope.
I've had fun going through your old school papers, drawings and cards (I found most everything) to make a miniature scene "Motherhood Memories". It's really hard to decide when there are sooo many to choose from. I had forgotten that you were writing in script at 3 because you thought it looked so pretty.
