This was initially reported by David Corn at Salon back in 1998, Attytood brought it up after NBC's David Schuster decided to shoot his mouth off, but I saw it first at AMERICAblog.

That has to be one of the most disgraceful, no, make that dispicable attempts at "humor" I have ever seen.
And one of the commenters at Attytood says McCain's
"joke" was a prepared remark, and not off the cuff. Even worse.
Is there a video of this somewhere? I just did a search on YouTube and nothing turned up.

as much as i find McCain the LEAST offensive of the Republicans, i think some people are kidding themselves thinking McCain won't use typical smearing, lying tactics against the Dems in the general.
