More Hacks Trying To Make Lies Stick

C&L has a big entry about Andrea Mitchell, Bob Woodward and Tucker Carlson stating over and over again how there was a CIA investigation into the damage the outing of Valerie Plame did to the organization and that they found it was minimal. In essence, even if outing Plame was a bad move, it's okay, nothing bad happened, so let's just sweep it under the rug and forget about it.

Except that the CIA has stated as of October 29th that there was NO INVESTIGATION made into the extent of damage.

So where are they getting this information? Are they pulling it out of their asses? Are they being fed it from some GOP shill? They ain't sayin' where they got the info. Not even a vague reference.

This is not to say I don't want the CIA to investigate - I think they should get off their asses and start looking into it. And who knows, maybe they already have in the month since the WaPo article came out, but I'm not seeing any references to an investigation, other than what these happy little idiots are reporting (which reminds me an awful lot of the old Fox standby: "Some people say..."). Stop being hacks, people!

Woodward is going from bad to worse isn't he? What the hell happened to the guy who helped bring down Nixon?

Sadly, I don't have links-at-the-ready, but I had read at least a year ago that the CIA did do some kind of checking and that they found enough damage to request the Justice Department to investigate in the first place. You know, the investigation Ashcroft recused himself from.
