Happy Turkey Day!

My favorite is when my family puts bacon across the turkey as it cooks. When it comes out of the oven, there's a mad dash to pick off the bacon.

Yummm.

Happy Thanksgiving Mox! I do the same with mine, and its all about the bacon flavor in the gravy (yeah, yeah, they tell you its to keep it moist).
Enjoy the day, and blog away!

Notice how Bush isn't daring to fly to Iraq [read: the Green Zone fortress] for a whole two hours and have a fake turkey photo-op with the troops he put in harm's way like he did last Thanksgiving? Could it be because Iraq gets more dangerous with each passing year?

FUCK BUSH!!!!!! Make love to a real woman!

Happy Thanksgiving Mox!

Bacon sounds good but I love the pineapple off of the ham after it's been cooking awhile.

Yeah we have both ham and turkey on ThanksfornothingBush Day.

And my better half is italian so we also have lasagna and meatballs and stuff.

Gotta be careful when you ask for the gravy because you end up getting tomato sauce.

Oooh, that sounds awesome!

In our family gathering it's all about the helmet potatoes - mashed spuds with American cheese melted over the top. Delish!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Moxie!

One year my family cooked thanksgiving dinner outdoors on a big rotisserie. It was great and a lot of fun.

I went to a friend's house.

She is a stereotypical Alabama debutante (sp?), he is a stereotypical Jew from Brooklyn.

We had a Kosher Southern Thanksgiving... it rocked. Then we all watched Spiderman 2 on tv. Real homemade cornbread made into real homemade stuffing...? How cool is that? Admitedly as a bachelor, I am impressed by anything a woman can do in the kitchen. Including Animal Balloons.

Two people who have little cultural similarities have made it work out. And it wasn't easy. As the guy who introduced them, I have suffered plenty of "friendly fire"

I see these two the folks, and I have never seen two folks so happy. Three if you include the dog.

If these two folks can make it...

We all can... because at heart.. we all rock. Human Nature is basic. At heart we all really want the same things.

It takes work. Hard Work. But the rewards are infintisable.

I'd like to see one politician willing to do the work. If the two opposites I had Thanksgiving with can "do a deal" why can't the rest of us?

I was at my daughter's house. She was a wonderful host of a party with about 20 people. We had three tables set up end to end to accomadate the size of the group. After dinner someone got one of those things where everyone is supposed to tell their 'thanks for family' or whatever. For some reason I had the Bob Dylan tune 'Just Like a Woman' floating around in my head. So when it came my turn to speak I burst out and played it on my harmonica. Which, much to my surprize when I finished, caused the group to burst out into robust applause. My daughter was proud of me. That's the most important outcome to this story. Thanks for listening.

I LOVE that song! It's one of my favorite Dylan songs, right up there with "It Ain't Me Babe", "Lay, Lady Lay", "The Times They Are A-Changin'", "Blowin' In the Wind", "Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues Again", "Subterranean Homesick Blues", "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" and "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35". But my all-time favorite is "Mr. Tambourine Man". Bob Dylan is a genious.
