Crazywoman Starts A Rukus

Remember this weirdo? She was the one who beat Paul Hackett in Ohio. Yeah, well, she decided to send a message, apparently from a Marine, to Congressman Murtha (a decorated Marine) that "cowards cut and run. Marines never do."

The place went nuts.
Her remark was stricken from the record and she came back from the break to "clarify" that they were not directed at anyone in particular. Right.

Crazy bitch.

(Thanks for the great picture, Think Progress.)

Moxie,
You dodged the best part of this whole thing. Let's take a poll. Who would favor the resolution they were debating?

Put me down for No

Also, I don't want to here how it wasn't Mothra's resolution, or how it was a political stunt. I just want to know, who would vote in favor of a bill demanding an IMMEDIATE withdrawal. Should be interesting...

An "immediate" withdrawal would be a logistical impossibility. That what was pointless about the resolution.

The guy sitting behind Schmidthead looking like he's undergoing a Louisville Slugger enema in your picture happens to be my first-term reflublican congressman Mike Sodrel (by 1,000 votes). He knows Schmidthead is defiling a man who is fifty times the man Sodrel could ever hope his sorry, Cheney-DeLay-corporate beholden ass could ever be.

"Marines never cut and run"?? Did this idiot completely miss the First Battle of Fallujah?? There were pictures in the newspapers of the Marines running as fast as they could. I still have a copy of it. How does she think there developed a need for a Second Battle of Fallujah??? Do these morons just forget everything that's inconvenient?

Amazing how those most vocal about the military and combat are those who have never been there or done that. The first duty of any soldier is to stay alive. You can't fight if you're dead.

No, that would be you projecting your anti-Marine bigotry on others.

"There were pictures in the newspapers of the Marines running as fast as they could. I still have a copy of it."

The fact that you claim to be in possession of hitherto-unknown "evidence," wholly devoid of historical context, provenance, or attribution, proves nothing. By all means, try again, though.

"How does she think there developed a need for a Second Battle of Fallujah??? Do these morons just forget everything that's inconvenient?"

The trouble, Rollo, is that the anti-Marine media's hateful imaginings, and your uncritical swallowing and regurgitation thereof, are not evidence of anything except your shared anti-Marineism. If you can bring yourself to accept the rather obvious fact that the Marines are winning an entirely necessary war, forced on America by Hussein through a proven build-up of WMD's and support of al-qaeda, all of Schmidt's message becomes entirely laudatory.

I'll tell you all one thing about all of this that disappoints me. Yeah, The Republicans were playing a bullhshit political stunt by bringing this resolution to the floor. But you know what? So what? The Democrats should have made that point, and then they voted "YES" lets withdraw our troops from Iraq.

It's a big 'why the fuck not' if you ask me. Not a goddamn thing will improve by the time we actually and finally do withdraw - which we will do. There is no way we are going find some crapola made up reason that makes any sense why we can declare victory in Iraq anymore so than we can today. We aren't going to put the so called insurgency into the "last throws" (you piece of shit, Cheney). We've done all that we are going to do in Iraq in any positive sense. I wish I could say that we've done all of the damage that we will do in Iraq, but I can't. We'll continue to fuck the donkey as long as the current team of assholes are running the show.

This is nothing but a waste of lives, money and face. America is making a fool of itself, and the Democrats should have taken this opportunity to make the all important 180% reverse.

This is the "Col Danny Bubp," Ohio state rep who she quoted calling Murtha a coward.

LMAO!!!!

His district includes Clermant, which is her home district, the same district that had much delayed vote totals due to humidity?!? and were counted by hand in her close win over Paul Hackett.

dogSchmidt and bubp go way back...

I did find this interesting tidbit...
( a lil past halfway down the page)

...AT VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK in Union Township, 50 supporters of Jean Schmidt gathered beneath a full-size decommissioned Huey helicopter, mounted on a pedestal like a hunting trophy. It was two days before the special election, and Schmidt had put together a vets’ event to counter Hackett’s military appeal. Marine Corps Reserve Colonel Danny Bubp, a local Republican state representative, was sweating in his dress uniform and telling the crowd that as a military officer, “one thing you don’t do is disparage your commander in chief.”...

Is that even legal to wear a uniform to campaign like that? I'm pretty sure there are strick rules against doing so.

"Yesterday I stood at Arlington National Cemetery attending the funeral of a young marine in my district. He believed in what we were doing is the right thing and had the courage to lay his life on the line to do it. A few minutes ago I received a call from Colonel Danny Bubp, Ohio Representative from the 88th district in the House of Representatives. He asked me to send Congress a message: Stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message, that cowards cut and run, Marines never do. Danny and the rest of America and the world want the assurance from this body – that we will see this through."

I think it shows character.
She appears to have been bottled up with anger, upset over the funeral.
Understood for the behavior.
Anyway, the Republicans spilled the beans and proved that the the democrats are hypocritical.
In fairness, the Republicans demonstrated a gesture of goodwill and ordered a vote; to pull
pull out of Iraq. The vote was slaughtered; only 3 Democrats stood their ground and voted to pull out.
Have to admit, they're clever, and classy, and poised

first of all, let's suspend with the name-calling of the woman. maybe i'm just being cranky this morning because a leaf blower woke me up way before i was ready, but COME ON! as bloggers, i suspect that you all have better vocabularies than that. and check out the origins of such words. they do not mean what you think they mean.

anyhoo...pardon my ignorance, but what was the vote that they were talking about? what was the ENTIRE bill that they were voting on? it could NOT have been so simple as immediate withdrawal.

November 20, 2005 12:38 PM
Blogger Phil said...

M, it was a non-binding "statement of support" for immediate an immediate withdraw of all US troops. Not a bill, and holds absolutely no weight. If it had passed, it would not have forced (or even tried to force) action. It was just a statement. As such, it was a complete and utter waste . . . it had no consequence, no bearing (other than political), made absolutely no difference (again, other than political), and yet was given higher priority than tasks actually associated with doing the job Congress was elected and paid to do. It was a waste of time, BS political move. Nothing more.

"the Marines are winning an entirely necessary war, forced on America by Hussein through a proven build-up of WMD's and support of al-qaeda"

I'm still laughing over this statement. Well, and crying. It is both hysterical and truly sad that there are actually people like Pahoran who actually believe this, despite the fact there has been absolutely no (zero, nada, zilch) evidence of any WMDs and the accusations about ties with al Quaida have been proven false. Wonder if Pahoran is smoking the same stuff as Iggy.

It was as simple as immediate withdrawal. That's why it was a bullshit and cynical ammendment. Another piece of shit game put up by the piece of shit majority Republican House. Sorry, but that's all it was. A waste of time and money that we paid for. Bastards.

thanks phil and kitt. now, on a semi-related topic, has this administration given a definition of WMD? i realize that the conceptual definition and operational definition are often different (oops...is my research bias showing?), so i was just curious about that. any ideas?

WTF is going through her mind?

Marines don't cut and run, they stay the course....and to say that to a man who wore the uniform and knows what it's like on the battlefield.

Damn that takes balls! this Schmidt is freakin crazy to say that to a vet! it's disgusting actually...

And Pahoran, I am not to crucify you for your beleifs, but rather ask you this question:

How can you actually support this war brought on by Cheney, Rumsfeld, & Rove? (let's face it - Bush is too stupid to think this one up himself, let alone tie his own shoelaces)

Were you aware of Rumsfeld's past? think back to the start of the cold war...when the neocons couldn't find evidence of Russia building up their arsenal - they pretty much said "well, if we can't find them, then they must have new technologies that are hidden to us, and thus even more of a danger"

For decades, people with this like minded power appetite, have used fear as the motivating factor to factor to control their citizens, and restores the politicians need to be there!

I am not critisizing you personally, as I actually feel sorry for you for buying into a false reality.

Read George Orwell's novel 1984, do some 'looking into' about Rumsfeld's past - go past the reagan era - and you might start see how dangerous these people are to your American dream.

God have mercy on you, whatever you convceive him to be. . .

Moxie, its absolutely incredulous that the repubgs try to continue to pull this shit. Then again, its fun to watch, as they lose more support each time the 'fear and smear' campaign talking points score a minus 10 for the team.

Watch and learn 'pugs. Your time is ticking away, and those of you that want that cushy office in D.C. had better "cut and run" very soon....

It is good to see some passion on the hill for a change. Instead of fighting over spoils. Now you all know why the Tory and Labour benches in Britain are separated by exactly two sword-lengths.

Murtha responded with a more eloquent reply on "Meet the Press" today:

"This is not a war of words, this is a real war where people are getting killed!" (says Murtha).

Easy directions on how to link text, and how to do italics/bold here.

Also, C&L has Murtha's MTP video up.

Another really good site for videos is http://dailydissent.org/.
They've got Murtha's house speech where the dems get all fired up cheering him. Really sweet to see the dems come together in the house, where it hasn't ever been easy to do.

Let's get 2 very important things straight for those of you a few brain cells short. One, Murtha's proposal was NOT for an immediate withdrawl, this vote was for the chickenhawks to look "patriotic", which is the only thing they have going for them anymore. This was such a ridiculous move, everyone should see right through it, but only some will.

Secondly, I live in Cincy, and this woman is the female GW. It is more important for her to "look" the part then to actually be competent. She will most likely be a one termer.
