These have got to be the DUMBEST two girls I've ever heard of.

Children are not born racist. On the train the other day was a little girl of about three haveing the most enormous fun with a black lady sitting behind. The child's mum, joined in and by the time the train arrived in Manchester, they were gossiping like old friends. Race had absolutely NOTHING to do with it, and the white mum did not become less white and the black lady did not become less black.
Therefor, it would seem to me that these children have been severely abused by some racist bastard parents, to think the way they do, and unfortunately, I don't think that light is going to shine any time soon!

That sign acknowledges those sins and affirms the dignity of every black person who has worked to be something other than a stereotype. I see that as moving forward. It offends you because you want to wash away the memories of slavery, scientific racism, Jim Crow, lynching, legal rape, segregation and every important legal decision based on race. You don't want US to remember that this shit was and continues to be morally reprehensible because it does not fit your agenda. If it were up to people like you, my history would be white washed. My identity would be destroyed. Everything that decent people fought for (the realization of the ideals that the founding fathers put into theory and but not into practice) would be wiped away. Why? Incidentially, racism is perpetrated by all colors. Folks on all sides can discriminate based on what ever basis they like. It's a free country. The problem with white on black racism is that folks in the white race usually hold the gold - the power, and thereby the responsibility to abolish the problem. Certainly it's a two way street; racism that is. But when one has been put down for so long, it is hard not to strike back. This is called a vicious cycle. One feeds the other. Moreover, when no one works toward a solution, there is no end in sight.

It really sucks that we are still dealing with these problems in this country. Things have come a long way in that direction in the last several decades. I will always remember my 2nd grade public school teacher here in VA segregating our classroom and her long discussions on how Martin Luther King Jr was really a trouble maker. That kind of crap didn't even raise an eyebrow back then. She never had a parent complain that I remember. If a teacher did something like that today we'd likely see it on CNN.
At some point, to end the race issue once and for all, Iggy is correct that "white" will need to be seen as acceptable when interchanged with the use of any other race by any person or group for any purpose.
These two teenagers are just the most public current evidence that that day is still far away.

I stand by my original points 1) American music is a fusion of African and European culture.
