Perth Amboy, New Jersey has 100 homes available - rent free for a year - to people who were displaced due to the storms in the gulf, yet only 15 are occupied.
Homes just sitting available for homeless people. FEMA, you fucking rot.

"Government Incomptence" is a trite, almost colorless phrase, but this story (and other FEMA-Katrina events) just take the cake.
Sorry to be profane, but these people could fuck up a wet dream. I honestly feel ashamed because of our federal government.

The place is extremely economically depressed.

Perhaps a family that is cramped in with other family members wouldn't mind living in their own space for free for a year.

Hey Iggy. Wake up from your dream world. Ohio sucks too! I spent a year driving in the snow belt with little complaints because I live here in the snow belt. Arg! You live in some kind to wierd fantasy world where everybody is a conservative and believes what you believe. Grow up and accept that we live in an imperfect world and no war, conservative president, liberal president, or whatever is going to change the world. People are starting to wake up from the conservative dream and realizing that politicians aren't going to have a miracle to fix the world. Love it or hate it we have to live on this mortal coil we call earth. Accept the fact that the world is screwed up or continue to live in that world that you've created for yourself. Get up and start doing something productive. I am trying to do that very thing. Make myself personally happy and live a good life free of political control. It's been hard, but I think that once people start to realize that no one politician is going to fix things is a pipe dream. I just live my life the best that I can with what talents I have been given. The sooner you realize this the better off your life will be in the future. So shut up and deal with it like the rest of us.
Iggy lives in a stark unhappy place where grievance is the currency and anyone helping anyone is generally suspect. His "libertarian" leanings come from a fear of life and liberation, rather than out of joy. Everybody in their place, everybody excepting their gruel, everyone pulling down any prole that get the Promethean urge.
