Pope on a Rope

Strap in, kids! It's time for the Attention of Gnats to be turned from Terri Schiavo ("OMG, like that was SO yesterday!") to The Pope, who appears to be dying. I mean, CNN barely has a follow-up about the Schindlers and the Schiavos being the new Hatfields and McCoys.

Who, my god, WHO WILL SAVE HIM!?! Get that life support system over there! He's not dead yet, but he already got Last Rites and a feeding tube down his schnoz. KEEP HIM ALIVE AT ALL COSTS!

You know what? Frank Perdue died. You know, it takes a tough man to make a tender chicken. Can we mourn his passing, too? In true media-circus style?

Okay, feeling of overwhelming snarkiness has passed.

These things usually take place in threes. Makes you wonder if there is a message behind it we are supposed to be learning.

Heh, maybe that the Rule of Three isn't so far off base.

The newshounds over at CNN must be having multiple orgasms right now, all these high profile deaths and cliffhanger deaths and inbreeding, errr, family squabbles! Bet they are dancing in the aisles!

I'm just stuck on the title of this post. Funny...but I'm afraid to laugh. And I'm not even Catholic.

So selfish of him to keep hanging around like this. Who does he think he is, Christ's vicar on earth?

Maybe I shouldn't be so hard on him; he never claimed to be perfect... oh yeah.

BTW, did you know that, according to Nostradamus, the next Pope will be the last? Goodness...

Never heard of a Pope on a Rope? They used to sell them - cheap soap figurines of the pope on string you can hang in your shower. Funniest things ;)

As for Nostradamus, he's a con man. I remember watching some A&E thing on him (or equivalent station) back when I was a kid and actually having a panic attack... at the time it was claimed that he predicted a terrible war between the Eagle and the Bear (supposed to be the US and Soviets), and that it would happen between 1994 and 1999. Even after I dismissed his dumb crap, I still was much happier after 1999 was over.

If the next pope is the last one, it may be because people get really tired of being jerked around and drained of their money.

I just switched off CNN, and it appears they have cameras ready to record the exact moment the Pope dies. Which, I would think if you are Catholic, isn't a bad thing, right? Isn't he headed for heaven? Correct me if I'm wrong; I'm Jewish and have no idea at all what Catholicism teaches.

Got me, Scott. I'm about as far from Catholicism as you can get. But I'm glad I no longer watch TV news anymore, it's all crap.

Where is the friggin' crash cart!! He can't die now!! He is making a contribution by his very existence!! He has brain waves even!!!! He must be maintained using extraordinary means for as long as possible!!! How dare they even think of letting him go so easily!!! Where is the outrage!?!? Where are the protestors to keep him going!?!?!

What no takers out there amongst the "Terri Terrorists" -- Protestant or Catholic??? No money in it and no political points either I guess. Sorry Pope, you just are not important enough for a group of professed "karing and kompassionate Khristians" to fight to keep you alive. I can't believe the "Terri-"rists are letting this opportunity slip through their fingers to appear like they actually believe in what they were screaming outside a terminal care hospice.

Mox, the Fray is at http://fray.slate.msn.com/
'Today's Papers' is a pretty thorough review of the news stories in most of the papers, including some political inuendo. The Fray is accessed through "Read Messages" at the bottom of the review. Many (most) authors are liberal, like me. I love this forum and argue regularly with those wacko lunatic right wing posters. You do need a 'handle' to post, but not to read. My handle is 'Read_n_Weep'.

Love your site!!

And don't forget Jerry Falwell gasping away on a respirator. It's like they're having a race.
