Early Review of HGTTG Not Looking Good :(

I think the guy is getting massive hits on his site - I got the text in email form, so if you have trouble accessing it, just email me and I'll forward the short, no-spoiler version; the long, spoilers included version, and/or the stuff they left out of the movie. Just email me: mg(at)moxiegrrrl(dot)com.

I admit it. I'm not a huge Douglas Adams fan. I tried to read Hitchhiker's, but I just couldn't get into it. I even watched the terrible BBC movie, which had some very amusing parts. Plus Kid Bastard is having kittens waiting for the new version to hit the theaters.

I saw the trailer, and am certainly more than interested in seeing it. Looks far and away better than the old movie, and while Kid was squealing with rabid joy over glimpses of strict references to the book, I assumed that this would be a fun flick to watch (even if I didn't get it all).

So it is with sad and heavy heart, that I reference this early review:

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy movie is bad. Really bad. You just won't believe how vastly, staggeringly, jaw-droppingly bad it is. I mean, you might think that The Phantom Menace was a hopelessly misguided attempt to reinvent a much-loved franchise by people who, though well-intentioned, completely failed to understand what made the original popular - but that's just peanuts to the Hitchhiker's movie...

I shall quote no more. They have a short review for those who don't want spoilers and a long one for those who do. I pray, for the sake of my husband and whomever else is slobbering at the mouth for this film to open that this reviewer is simply messing with everyone's head.

PS: Wedding was awesome, Kid overdid it and spent all day in bed or near the toilet. The guys threatened to come over and make him do a few more tequila shots, which I would have approved of except I would be the one dealing with the aftermath. I had already had enough fun dragging his passed out ass from the car to the bedroom.

Seems the guy has limited bandwidth. Silly fool. Hope he mirrors it up on blogger or something.

other than Revenge of the Sith, this was the one movie I was really looking forward to as I loved the books. I'm holding out hope here but this depresses me.

You and Kid Bastard both. He's very sad. He'll still see it, but he's still very sad.

And I'm only going to see Sith with the mindset that it will royally suck ass and I will just hold out hope for a few good lightsaber fights. My daughter refuses to watch the newer ones, only likes the originals. She's got such good taste.
