Art Imitating Life

So I watched Alias last night. I'm a big fan, though I revel in calling Sidney the Worst. Spy. Ever. There was another huge plot twist (spoiler ahead for those who TiVo'd it or something) that made my head spin...

First came the revelation that Vaughn's father has been dead all along and all the evidence was manufactured by Sloane.

Then came the revelation that Sid's Spy Mommy was set up to LOOK like she hired the hit on Sid, it was really Sloane.

Finally came the revelation that there is some other guy out there either PRETENDING to be Sloane or is Sloane's BROTHER who's first name also starts with "A".

Basically, at this point in the series, all evidence has been faked, manufactured or twisted into whatever the bad guy(s) wants to make someone do something or react in a specific way. So why any of these characters take any evidence at face value anymore is beyond me.

Why does this sound too much like real life?
