Bush Is Going to Hell in a Handbasket

Third Columnist Implicated with Payola Charges - Oooooooh! BIG SURPRISE! More columnists were PAID to spew White House propaganda! Michael McManus, whose syndicated column, "Ethics & Religion," appears in 50 newspapers, was hired as a subcontractor by the Department of Health and Human Services to promote an administration marriage initiative, according to an article posted yesterday by Salon.com, the online magazine.

And officials now admit that there may be as many as five US citizens being held captive in Iraq, possibly since November 2004.
"There are three we know are being held hostage and there's a handful more who are unaccounted for, some of whom might be in a hostage situation," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said.

I wanted to reprint this whole speech, but just in case someone gets all whipped up about copyrights and stuff, here's an excerpt: But what if the overall policy is a colossal mistake, a major error in judgment? Not just bad judgment regarding when and where to impose ourselves, but the entire premise that we have a moral right to meddle in the affairs of others? Think of the untold harm done by years of fighting-- hundreds of thousands of American casualties, hundreds of thousands of foreign civilian casualties, and unbelievable human and economic costs. What if it was all needlessly borne by the American people? Read the rest here...

Global warming is 'twice as bad as previously thought' - but goddammit I want my oil fields! Fuck the environment! Internets!

I'm just thinking out loud here, so roll with me... It seems to me that during the Clinton years, more people had good jobs that paid them good salaries, the national debt became a thing of the past and overall things were pretty ducky for the US population as a whole. In the Bush Jr. years, we've got more unemployment, we're involved in a conflict we were blatently lied to about, and the national debt has taken a nosedive. Yet he still seems to get support. Is it just that the richest people still have their high-paying jobs and they support him? But what about all those dumb bastards that voted for him? Aren't THEY affected by this? How many parents of dead soldiers can stand up today and say they support the president and accept the sacrifice of their children because they believe in what Bush is doing in Iraq? If so, WHAT do they believe he is doing?

If anyone knows anyone who's lost a son or daughter in Iraq, I would really, truly, honestly like to get the answers.

hello, this is going to be short. I have never been bothered to write on one of these things before, but i must say, i like the style of this one. Well, Im an Irishman, and i just thought that i might let some Americans friends know what is thought of good ol G.W over here. In Europe as a whole.. not just one or two little countries like ireland but all of Europe, Bush is the most feared man there is. Im sure that most educated americans know this anyway but i might as well, bang the nail in there. Never has an American elecion been so carefully watched by the Public, now bare in mind.. we have our own elections and all that, and usually the US elecions just pass by, as they should since they dont really have anything to do with us. But the last time.. wow.. everyone watched as was so deeply upset by the outcome. this man, is killing people.. laods of people.. loads and loads..
One small story that you will not have seen through the US media. In iraq, about 7-8 months ago there was a tank that was out of order, i cant remember if it was attacked or just broke down.. odds are it was attacked.. well, there was loads of people hanging around the tank.. hopping up and down on it.. delgihted that a tank that was killing their families had stop working.. a helicopter came in.. this was on tv over here.. horribly graphic stuff.. the helicopter came in, and fired a misile on the tank.. 101 civilans died, including the reporter who was giving the story.. no warning shots were fired.. they just blew them up.. 101 people.. but sure, they are not western so it doesnt really matter eh..
I dont know if that will ruffle any feathers.. but there is an example of what is going on, and is complety hidden from the US public..
I am not anti american.. im going out with lovely little american.. i dunno.. just thought that i would add that in.. someone might read it and be appauled by what people are doing in their name, in the name of the american people.. there you go.. all the best all.. duck from dublin, ireland
