SHHHH! IT'S A SECRET!

GOOD SHEETS

I had no idea this was a secret until recently, but it is my advice that every single guy looking to impress the hell out of a girl he's trying desperately to get into his bed should own at least ONE set of good sheets.

I don't mean just matching colors, which helps, but I mean HIGH THREAD COUNT sheets. This is apparently a mystery to many men, so here is a quick lesson...

Thread count = the number of threads per square inch of fabric.

Those sets of sheets from KMart that cost $3.99 that say 180 thread count? THEY SUCK! They feel like cardboard no matter how many times you wash them. Get a set of them only for emergency and NEVER when you think you even have a 1% chance of having a girl see them.

No, my friends, what you are looking for are at LEAST 300 thread count sheets. If you can pick yourself up 400+ thread count sheets, you are so styling I'd visit you myself. Most of the good set packages will allow you to open them without ruining the packaging so you can feel firsthand the difference.

Make sure the color you choose is neutral (avoid black and white sheets - black SCREAMS bachelor unless you are already goth and it goes with the upside-down crucifix over the headboard, and white is a bitch to keep clean and boring anyway).

It's not necessary to purchase a complete set of comforter (that thick top blanket), shams (fancy pillow covers that a lot of guys stay away from), dust ruffles (sounds fruity, but dust ruffles hide all the shit you stash under your bed, so every guy really should be required by law to have them) and sheets that are all 400 thread count - you'd be spending hundreds of dollars, but you do want to find decent ensemble pieces that match the good neutral sheets you've purchased.

And for fuck's sake, wash the good sheets regularly! At least once a week - more if you're a real slob.

I'm telling you, once a girl enjoys the luxury of your fine bedding, your status will be elevated another 2 notches. Girls can't help but be impressed by a nicely put together bed.

UPDATE: Not only am I updating this exactly two years to the day that I wrote it, but I was amused to see that someone actually did a Yahoo search and found my site using the words "black," "high," "thread," "count," and "sheets." I am amused. :)
